Ms. Hinds has over 23 years experience in the natural hair care industry. Beginning her career as a braider and later becoming a braiding instructor, Ms. Hinds is currently an entrepreneur in the natural hair care industry. She is also the proprietor of Washington, D.C.'s most innovative and successful natural hair care salon, Uzuri Braids.

While Uzuri Braids was opened December 1994, Ms. Hinds' reputation has navigated the salon to the position of one of the leading natural hair care salons in the Washington metropolitan area.

In addition to her braiding, Ms. Hinds has been extremely active in trade associations. She was regional director of the National Braiders Guild. The organization honored her as braider of the year in 1989.

In keeping with her commitment to community involvement, Ms. Hinds has been involved with fund-raising projects. This commitment and positive attitude shows her dedication to spreading a "Spirit of Afrocentricity".
